Our Mission
The Miss Lakes Region and Miss Lilac State Scholarship Programs are dedicated to empowering women in New Hampshire through scholarship opportunities, personal development, and community engagement. As nonprofit organizations, we uplift women by providing them with the tools they need for leadership, personal growth, and community involvement, all while fostering a network of support and mentorship.

OUR HISTORY
Miss Lakes Region Scholarship Program began in 2000 under the direction of Wayne and Debbie Sévin who volunteered endless hours to our young NH Women and brought many of their Title Holders to the State Scholarship Competition and winning the coveted Title of Miss New Hampshire and then competing for the title of Miss America.
Under the new Board of Directors our Miss Lilac State 2025, Xanthi Russell, was crowned Miss New Hampshire 2025 and competed for the Title of Miss America. The Miss Lakes Region/Miss Lilac State Board of Directors are beyond proud of Xanthi’s accomplishments as she beautifully represented the State of NH at Miss America this past September.

Since joining the Miss New Hampshire Scholarship Program, I’ve grown tremendously, both personally and professionally, developing valuable skills in public speaking, leadership, and advocacy, and I’m proud to have been recognized as a top interviewer.
As Miss Lakes Region Teen, I’m honored to promote my Community Service Initiative: Literacy Lifeline: Empowering Minds, One Book at a Time, raising awareness about the importance of reading and providing mini libraries to children across New Hampshire.
To date, I’ve earned over $5,500 in scholarship funds, which will support my academic journey as I pursue a dual major in Pre-Law and Business. I’m excited for the opportunity to serve the Lakes Region community.

Since starting my journey in the Miss America Program I have been able to define and achieve numerous goals in which I never could have imagined had I not become involved in MAO in 2015. I successfully grown both of my personal and professional development, being able to connect with my community, and advocate for things that I am passionate for such as my community service initiating Take Action; Advocating for Acceptance. I have seen myself grow by constantly setting goals and working to achieve them, and am proud to have placed amongst the top 5 at Miss New Hampshire twice, and I’ve even successfully earned enough scholarship money to pay off my student loans!

My name is Aly Blais and I’m so excited to continue advocating for the food insecure in our beautiful state as your Miss Lilac State’s Teen! Throughout my time competing in the Miss New Hampshire Teen Scholarship Program, I have been able to earn almost $7,000 in scholarships towards my higher education goals. Not only has this program afforded me an opportunity to raise awareness about an issue I am passionate about all while earning scholarship money, I have also met some of my very best friends and sister titleholders in this program. I’m filled with gratitude and looking forward to seeing what this new year and opportunity will bring!

Growing up in the Miss America system has shaped the person I am today. While I’ve been fortunate to achieve many milestones, my proudest moment was being crowned Miss New Hampshire’s Teen and representing my state on the Miss America stage. Through this incredible scholarship program, I’ve gained lifelong friendships, educational opportunities, and a second family that continues to uplift and inspire me.
To date, I’ve earned $4,950 in scholarships through the Miss New Hampshire’s Teen program and an additional $15,500 through the Miss New Hampshire program—funds that are helping me pursue my education in Voice Arts at the legendary CalArts.
It’s also an honor to currently serve as Miss Lilac State, and I’m enjoying every moment of representing this incredible community. I’m beyond excited to join my sisters on the Miss New Hampshire stage next year!
